"Toys are children's words and play is their language" — Gary L. Landreth.

About play therapy

Play therapy is a systematic and evidence-based approach to counselling children. In play therapy, children use play to work through their difficult or traumatic experiences.

The ultimate goal of play therapy is to help children gain insight into their emotions and behaviours, facilitating positive change and improving overall functioning.

This approach helps build skills within the child, leading to improvements in behaviour. As these improvements take place, symptoms such as acting out, aggression, physical complaints, fears, worries, withdrawal, and regression often decrease.

Learn to Play Therapy

The aim of the program is to build the spontaneous play ability of children.

The play skills targeted in Learn to Play Therapy include the ability to spontaneously initiate play, logically sequence play actions, use objects as symbols (such as object substitution), engage with a doll or teddy bear as a separate character, integrate play into a script, participate in role play, and interact socially through play. Humanistic Play Therapy

Humanistic Play Therapy is is a different experience than everyday play for the child, because the therapist integrates a well-defined set of skills in a consistent, predictable manner which creates the space for the child’s self-expression and self-direction. (5)

Filial Family Therapy

Filial Therapy is a recognised evidence-based therapeutic approach that blends non-directive play therapy with family therapy to enhance relationships, build healthy attachments, and prevent family disruptions. This method offers a more direct and efficient way to address challenging child-parent dynamics and related behavioral and emotional issues.
